Hastings Photographers’ Club

An informal photography club in Hastings. Studio nights with a model, photowalks, talks and the occasional pub. Free if you’re a studio member. PAYG if you’re not.

What we run

Open studio nights.

Our regular fixture. We book the model, rig the lights and open the doors. You rotate through positions so everyone gets clean angles, and the lighting changes across the evening so you work with two or three setups. There's always someone on the floor to help.

See upcoming events

Photowalks.

The Old Town, the Stade, West Hill, the seafront at golden hour. No equipment required beyond what’s in your pocket.

Guest evenings.

Working photographers talking about how they actually make a living, with time for questions and a drink afterwards.

Would you like to speak about your work? Please get in touch.

Technique sessions.

Lighting, editing, studio work. Practical, hands-on, whatever the group asks for.

Socials.

The pub. No camera necessary.

If there’s something you want us to run, tell us. The programme is largely made of members’ suggestions.

How it works

Studio members come free.

Every event, included in your membership.

Everyone else pays per event.

Book the ones you fancy, ignore the rest. No membership, no commitment, no joining fee.

Membership.

Studio membership is £40 for 4 credits or £80 for 8 credits, and credits roll over for as long as you stay a member. (1 credit = 1 hour in the studio). Membership gets you access to all our events for free, plus the studio itself for your own shoots.

Who is it for?

People restarting after years away. People who bought a good camera and never got past the kit lens. Working photographers keeping their portrait work sharp between commissions. Students from East Sussex College. Retired people. People who moved down from London and want to meet someone. Everyone’s welcome.
